Counter Armor Basics
FireCraft SMP has 5 custom armor sets, each crafted to counter specific elemental powers. Wearing the right set against an opponent's power can reduce their damage by up to 60%. The counter only applies to power-sourced damage — vanilla melee, bow, and fall damage are unaffected by counter armors.
Dragon Scale is the universal counter-all set, providing 40% reduction against any power at the cost of being harder to obtain and having no single-power specialization bonus.
The 5 Custom Armor Sets
Ember Guard
Counters: Fire PowerEffect: Reduces all Fire Power damage by 50%. This includes the active fireball, the burning DoT, and the passive lava-walking ignite aura.
Full-Set Bonus: Fire Resistance I applied permanently. You no longer take fire or lava damage from any source.
Craft Material: Blaze Rods + Magma Cream. Farmed in the Nether.
Best Used Against: Fire Power players, especially aggressive ones who rely on the fireball cooldown combo.
Frost Plate
Counters: Ice Power · Wind PowerEffect: Reduces Ice Power and Wind Power damage by 50%. Covers both the freeze-and-burst Ice combo and Wind's velocity-based slam damage.
Full-Set Bonus: Immunity to Slowness and negative movement effects applied by powers. You cannot be frozen or rooted while wearing full Frost Plate.
Craft Material: Blue Ice + Packed Ice + Prismarine. Deep ocean and mountain biomes.
Best Used Against: Players who picked Ice and rely on the freeze mechanic to land their burst window.
Void Weave
Counters: Dark Power · Rift PowerEffect: Reduces Dark Power and Rift Power damage by 50%. Covers Dark's shadow-strike crit multiplier and Rift's teleport-gap-close burst.
Full-Set Bonus: Blindness immunity. You cannot be affected by Blindness from Dark Power's passive smoke screen.
Craft Material: End Stone Bricks + Chorus Fruit + Obsidian. End dimension drops.
Best Used Against: End-game players who typically have Dark or Rift — both are common high-skill picks.
Warden Carapace
Counters: Warden PowerEffect: Reduces Warden Power damage by 60% — the highest single-power counter in the game. Covers the Sonic Boom active and the Darkness passive pulse damage.
Full-Set Bonus: Darkness immunity. The vision-impairment debuff from Warden Power's passive does not apply to you.
Craft Material: Sculk Catalyst + Sculk Shrieker fragments. Deep Dark cave biome — dangerous to farm.
Best Used Against: Warden Power is one of the highest burst-damage powers. The 60% counter makes you nearly impossible to kill for a Warden user who relies on the Sonic Boom burst.
Dragon Scale
Counters: All PowersEffect: 40% reduction against damage from any power, plus a flat damage cap of 15 per power hit. If a power hit would deal more than 15 damage after the 40% reduction, it is capped at 15.
Full-Set Bonus: Slow Falling passive — you take no fall damage. Also grants Resistance I for 3 seconds after taking a power hit.
Craft Material: Dragon Scale drops (from Ender Dragon, multiple kills required) + Netherite. Hardest set to craft in the game.
Best Used Against: When you don't know your opponent's power, or in team fights against mixed power compositions. The 15-cap is particularly strong against burst-damage powers like Wither and Dragon.

Counter-Build Strategy
Carry two armor sets in your ender chest
You can't always know your opponent's power before a fight. Keep your default armor equipped and your counter set in an Ender Chest. Once you identify the opponent's power type, switch mid-fight at a safe moment.
Dragon Scale is the PvP tournament pick
In organised FireCraft events, Dragon Scale is almost mandatory because opponents rotate and you face multiple powers. The 40% universal reduction and 15-cap outperforms single counters in extended multi-fight scenarios.
Enchant counter armor the same as regular armor
Counter armors accept all standard enchantments — Protection, Unbreaking, Mending. They are NOT immune to Sharpness/Power weapon damage (only power abilities are countered).
Counter armor + companion aura = dominant build
Combine Ember Guard with a Wolf companion (Lifesteal aura) against a Fire Power opponent: you take 50% less power damage and heal back from every hit you land. Most Fire users cannot out-burst this combination.
